TI-89 Titanium Error / semi-crash
An error on TI-89 Titanium Calculator. I used the game Phoenix 7.1 Thanks to Patrick Davidson for making this great game. When you take out and put back in the batteries while the game is running, the game will run slower. When you try to exit the game with the apps button you will get the Protected Memory Violation Error. If you press esc you will get another error, and even though the TI says you have to press on to go back it doesn't really works. After you try to turn off the TI a few times you will get another error(ER_throw), and your TI will only respond to the 2nd, diamond, alpha and arrow up button. Even when you take out the batteries again it will stay there. You can only get out of it by resetting the Calculator.

NLVM's Free Online Graphing Calculator
It's easy to find interactive graphing calculators websites, but finding a free, easy to use graphing calculator applet that's not buggy is more of a challenge. One of the best is hosted at Utah State University's NLVM site, the National Library of Virtual Manipulatives. If you're not familiar with it, NLVM is an extensive collection of interactive applets for students and teachers. You'll find not shortage of interesting puzzles and games there, but this time we wanted to highlight their "grapher" applet.
What sets apart the NLVM grapher is its simple to use, yet powerful interface. An easy to use menu at the top of the screen allows for fractions, exponents, square roots, and absolute values, and they can all be inputted just as they appear in a textbook. There's very little clutter on the screen to intimidate users.
There are surprisingly powerful options for a Java based calculator. Of course, there is a simple trace feature, which utilizes a slider bar. There are three additional tabs for users to choose from, parameters, window, and functions.
Parameters allows the user to insert up to three parameters into the equation that can be manipulated with a slider bar. If you are interested in examining translations, this is a very powerful feature since the graph adjusts in real time.
Not surprisingly, the window tab give the user the option to adjust the graph view. Fortunately, it is also possible to zoom by simply using the mouse to select a region to view.
The functions tab gives the user the ability to input up to three functions. One of the really nice features here is that composite functions are supported (although inverse functions are not). Other advanced features offer the ability to choose each functions color and restrict domains.
The applet doesn't contain all the functionality of a high end graphing calculator handheld, but that's not really the point. Whether you're a student using it to try out graphing for the first time or a teacher incorporating it into your lesson, it's a simple and reliable solution. NLVM's grapher is one of the best online graphing calculators available today.

Cheap TI 83 Graphing Calculator
I'd been searching for a cheap TI 83 graphing calculator for a while now. Since they can be pretty expensive, I thought I'd share what I've found during my research.
What is a graphing calculator?
It's a brilliant piece of technology that can make life so much easier for math and science students. It's used mostly for higher level math - trigonometry and calculus - and allows you to work with several equations simultaneously. You can enter any equation and see it graphed - it makes the task of graphing really difficult equations quick and easy. The LCD screen allows you to track your calculations by letting you see all of the numbers you enter.
Many of these calculators, apart from solving equations and being able to store and analyze up to ten matrices together with data storage in lists of nearly 1000 elements per list also have the facility for playing games. The TI-83 Plus is one of the best calculators for this function - with thousands of games you can download online for free. You can also actually program simple games on it, and in fact it's a great introduction to computer programming if you're interested in going into that. Compared to the more expensive models, this one is much easier to use, and if you can find it at a good price, it's excellent value for money.
Finding a cheap TI-83
Although you can get more advanced models, the TI-83 has all the functionality needed for calculus, trig, statistics and more. However, if you're needing a graphing calculator for physics or chemistry you'll need a more advanced version like the TI-89 instead. Good quality graphing calculators are expensive, costing up to 0, but you can get cheap ones if you shop around. Instead of paying the regular retail price, you can find a cheap TI 83 graphing calculator online if you know where to look.
